Hello awesome readers!
Welcome to assignment #12.
This is probably one of my favourite blog post I've written so far.
So Ms.Pollock has us going to 1000awesomethings.com, and write a post about it.
Make our very own awesome post, and link back to 3 other awesome post we really enjoyed.
Here's my 1001, awesome thing;
#1001 A refreshing cold shower, on a hot day.
During the summer time, it gets really hot. (No duh.) We get all sweaty, and gross, and we just need to cool down. I love to take nice cold showers just to cool off. It's also refreshing and that's an awesome feeling.
***
#348 That moment near the holidays when there’s suddenly cookies, chocolate, and candy everywhere
I think this post is so true, and everyone can relate to! Decorative sugar cookies, shortbread cookies, packs of chocolate for gifts. There's sugar everywhere!
Awesome!!
#356 Wearing your boyfriend's sweater
This has to be the awesomest thing. Also cute. Even if you don't have a boyfriend, it's always nice to be given a sweatshirt from your friend, who's a boy (get it? boy-friend). I also love the smell of it. (When they wear cologne of course, it's delightful.) It's nice to know that someone cares about you, and your lack of warmth. Ha.
How,
awesome.
#364 When you get caught in the rain and you just don't care
I love when this happens! Usually, my parents get mad when I get soaking wet in the rain. But one time, when we went to Busch Gardens, it was raining. Not awesome. But when we were at the parking lot, our parents gave us permission to jump in the puddles, and get wet. They weren't mad!
Bonus.
Now that's awesome.
So anyways, I hope you guys enjoyed reading this awesome post. Cause trust me, it was fun writing it!
Catch you later, awesome alligator.
Yeah, that was sort of a fail.

'Memories'
This poem was completely written by me, dedicated to a friend of mine.
Here it goes...
***
'Memories'
Claire Garcia
Do you know what would be cool?
Do you know what I wish for?
I wish, that our memories came, with a play, save, rewind, fastforward, and delete button.
To look at all the good memories,
and have 'em on re-run.
Or, replay, I should say.
Kinda like the time, when we went outside to the park, before dark.
The sun's about to set, it was getting really cold, and you gave me your jacket.
Grabbed my hand, said you cared 'bout me.
And you know,
I can never forget that feeling.
Butterflies in my stomach,
intestines all knotted.
And how,
I will never forget it.
And yet, I wish memories came with a play, save, rewind, fastforward, and delete button.
To delete all the bad times,
and leave them behind.
Like a revision,
or incision in my brain, to delete bad memories...
completely.
Like a white eraser,
defacing the led,
on a piece of paper.
Leaving behind the time,
when I was up half the night.
Brokenhearted,
wondering how this fight even started.
Feeling guilty,
wearing misery.
No forgiveness at that moment.
Saying 'I hate you,' to your face.
I hope you know,
I never meant it.
I meant the opposite.
I wish, our memories came with a play, save, rewind, fastforward, and delete button.
I'd take all the memories,
from good to bad.
And have 'em on re-run.
Here it goes...

Hello Bloggers!
So today, was our last session with the awesome, and talented Greg & Beth Ann. We all preformed our own written poems this morning.
Anyway, the point is, Ms.Pollock has us doing assignment #17 about today.
a) What did you learn from Greg and Beth Ann? (at least 2 things)
>Something I learned from Greg and Beth Ann, is something called cadence. When there's a flow, and a variety of tones in your poem.
>I also learned a new chant, to help encourage others to go up and feel comfortable preforming. To let them know that we, as an audience, is there to listen and support.
We put our fist up, and say '3...2...1... RAISE IT!'
***
b.) When writing your own poem, what did you use as inspiration? (at least 3 things)
>When I was writing my poem, I had a dude 'friend' in mind, and how much I miss hanging out with him, and wish to go back to those days.
>Another inspiration in mind was Facebook. Yes, Facebook. There was a 'like' on Facebook that said 'I wish memories came with a play, save, and delete button.' It related to me so much that I put it as a repetition in my poem.
>My last inspiration was obviously the memories I had with my 'friend.' In my poem, I recall some of the good, and bad experiences with my friend.
***
c.) What are you most proud of from your poem or your presentation of it? (at least one thing)
>I am most proud of writing my poem in general! It was fun to do word plays, and find words that rhymed and worked together to sound good.
***
d.) How did you feel before you performed?
>Before I preformed, I was super nervous. I also felt alittle confident, because I was proud of my poem, yet anxious, because I wouldn't know how the audience would react to my poem. Questions like; 'Will they understand what I'm saying?' 'Will they like my poem?'
e.) How did you feel AFTER you performed?
>After I preformed, I felt good; to just let it out, and get it over with. I also felt alot more confident with myself and my poetry.
>And another thing, the truth is, after I preformed I felt alittle exposed. In a good way, I guess.
g.) What did you learn/like about someone else's poem?
>Something I really liked about Amy's poem, was the fact that it was totally relateable, and deep. Most girls, (even me), pick out every detail about themselves and hate on it.
But we have to except the fact we are all beautiful just the way we are.
>I also really liked Hannen's message in her poem about violence, and how it is never the awnser. She had good wordplay and repetition. But I can expect that from her, cause she's our class poet! A really good one too!
Anyway, I'll leave you with that.
I'll be posting my poem shortly after this post, it's called 'Memories.'
Until then,
Bye!

How I'm Creative ~
Hola Bloggers!
To be honest, I am super excited for this blog post!
Check out assignment 8; on Ms.Pollock's blog!
***
HOW AM I CREATIVE?
I think I am creative in a directive kind of way. What I mean, is I absolutely LOVE to edit, and make my own videos. I know; it doesn't seem all too creative, but it takes alot of work and imagination! You need to plot out an idea, record, edit it in a creative way to keep your viewers watching, and then POST!
I also like making original skits, monologues, and scripts. I remember when I went to Virginia, USA to visit my cousin, in our spare time, we directed, wrote a script, and recorded a video about the funny accent of our Filipino parents.
Our video was called 'Coppe,' (pronounced, copy), as in 'Coffee', that's how our parents would say coffee, which we always teased them about.
But don't worry, our parents were not offended, they actually found it funny.
How I express my creativity is by making, and posting videos. Check out my YouTube channel;
ClaireGarcia2003.
Check out my first directive video!
I recorded that video such a long time ago! I was so young!
***
Or check out my video parody of 'One Time,' by Justin Bieber;
(Give it a minute to load.)
So I hope you guys enjoyed that.
Adios Amigos!
I know, I'm a fail in Spanish.

Field Trip - 3,2,1.
Hiya Bloggers!
So last Friday, we went on our very special field trip to the Museum of Civilization, and it was really awesome!
So once again, the lovely Ms.P assigned us another 3-2-1 assignment!
3 Specific Things I Enjoyed Overall;
-Something I really enjoyed about this field trip was the hands-on things we got to do, like when we got to be archaeologists for a bit and dig in the sandbox, looking for 'artifacts' to confirm which region of Canada we were in.
-Another thing I really enjoyed was when we got the opportunity to walk around with these actors, and learn how the Metis were created. European men would 'abuse' the Aboriginal women, have kids, and then most of them left them to continue on with their journey.
-The last thing I really enjoyed was when we got to see the oldest artifact in Canada. It was a weapon, made of an animal's bone, that aboriginals used as weapons.
2 Important Things I Learned;
-I learned that the Aboriginal people in the Maritimes (Newfoundland, P.E.I, New Brunswick ect.) used a trap that looked like a net, made up of tree bark, to catch eels, and eat them.
-I also learned alittle something about the people in the Prarie region. The Aborignials there, would ride horses, and chase a heard of buffulo off a cliff, and would not waste anything on the bufflulo.
They would use their skin for shelter, and clothing.
They'd use the buffulo's meat to eat, and make pemmican. (Dried meat)
And they'd use the buffulo's bones for making weapons and tools.
1 Thing I Would Change;
The one thing I wuld change would have to be able to have more time at the museum. We were rushed to eat our lunch, and we weren't able to see the other exibits that I really wanted to see.
But all in all, it was a great field trip.

That's all for today. Stay tuned for more blog post!

Mystery History Maker
Hello Readers!
It's a new day, so that means new post!
So I am super excited for tomorrow, because we are going to an awesome field trip to the Museum of Civilization.
Ms.Pollock has us doing an assignment, called 'Mystery History Match' , where we play this game, and answer the following questions.
The Mystery History Match I was matched up with was Pierre Elliott Trudeau.
***
1.The truth is, I wasn't able to identify my Mystery History Match with the clues provided, until they the game told me at the end, who I was paired up with.
2. -Some things I have in common with Mr.Trudeau, was he was a very athletic, and active person. He skied, scuba dived, surfed, swam, and did yoga, and I love doing yoga.
He also earned a brown belt in judo.
-During his campaign, he had a nickname, which was PET. (His initials, because his name was too long). I also have a nickname, which is Claire. Because Clarissa to some what too long.
3. Pierre Elliot Trudeau is historically significant to Canada because he was the fifteenth Prime Minister of Canada. He was in office April 20, 1968 – June 4, 1979.
"I will use all my strength just to bring about a just society."
-Pierre Elliott Trudeau
If you want more information on Mr.Trudeau, click here.
So that's it for blogging today! I'm thinking about changing my layout, just so ya'll know if you come back to my blog, and not think I was hacked. Ha.

World of Work
Hello fellow bloggers!
So Mrs.Pollock assigned us a new assignment!
This assignment #7, takes us into the world of work.
Yes, work. I don't even like work at home. (Aka chores.)
This Wednesday, us grade eights are going on a field trip, to Landsdowne Park to learn about the world of work! Yay.
***
1.The sector that appeals to me the most, has to be the Service Sector, because I take an interest in baking, cooking, and anything with food!
I also wanted to become a waitress at one point, at a restaurant of some sort.
2. Here are some of the Trade and Technology Career sectors, with some of examples of their jobs available for each sector.
Construction Sector
-Electrical Wiring
-Refrigeration
-Landscape and Gardening
Employment Sector
-Job Interview
-Prepared Speech
-Workplace Safety
Information and Technology Sector
-Electronics
-TV and Video Production
-Graphic Design
Manufacturing Sector
-Robotics
-Precision Machining
-Mechatronics
Service Sector
-Baking
-Cooking
-Restaurant Service
Transportation Sector
-Aircraft Maintenance
-Automotive Service
-Autobody Repair
3. I hope to learn more about the Service Sector. Around baking, and fashion technology.
Questions;
-How long does it take to become a professional chef?
-Is there a course in college/university for baking?
-As a dressmaker, approximately how long does it usually take to finish a dress for a client?
Does it depend on the fabrics and patterns?
-Do you make appointments with clients for the dress they want you to make for them?
4.The pathway I want to take after university is, once again, the Service Sector. I want to become a waitress at a restaurant, or a barista at Starbucks, and work my way up as an entrepreneur. I don't really want this as a career, waiting tables, or making coffee, but I could live with being an entrepreneur for the rest of my life. Yet, I also wanted to be working with criminal justice. Like the show CSI: Miami.

So I'm glad I'm finally done this assignment!
I don't want to worry about what I want to be 'till high school! Ha!

Behind MY Name!
Hello Bloggers!
New day, new post, and I'm really excited about this one!
Mrs.Pollock told us to do an assignment called 'behind our name'. We go to the site: http://babynamesworld.parentsconnect.com/ and find our name!
So I entered my birth name, Clarissa, (for anyone who didn't know), and this is what came up.
***
Behind my name Clarissa Joy Garcia.
Before we started this assignment, I thought my name was kind of unique, because there's not alot of people with the name Clarissa, but it isn't as rare as the name Jumanh! There is nothing that rhymes with Clarissa, (unless, if you find a word, comment on my blog please!), but my science teacher Mr.McGill always says 'Clarissa Balissa'. I'm 100% sure that isn't a real word, but I'm too lazy to find it in the dictionary!
I think my parents chose this name for me because they thought it was a really pretty name.(That's what people tell me, don't think I'm bragging!) My mom bought a book called 'The Name Book' for inspiration, and yet, we still have it!
At first my mom wanted to name me 'Charity Joy,' but she thought, no, Clarissa is much better. And thank goodness! I would not appreciate my mom for giving me that name.
Just joking. Mahal kita ma. (Love you mom!)
We have a joke that if she did call me 'Charity,' I said all the kids would give pity on me!
After searching Baby Names my name means clear, bright, and famous. Which kind of makes sense to me!
Clear; It is CLEAR to me what I want to do when I grow up.
I want to become an actress. Or work with Criminal Justice. What inspired me was the show, CSI: Miami. I also want to be a journalist, or photojournalist. Or just take photos, period. When I get enough money I want to be an entrepreneur, own a fashion line, Starbucks, or a cute little cupcake shop. But only time will tell!
Bright; Maybe it means I'm always smiling. Or because of all the academic distinctions. I honestly don't like to brag, but I'm trying to be as humble as I can about this. So here's my proof;
>I had one academic distinction in grade one
>one in grade three
>literacy award in grade four
>and one academic distinction in grade seven last year
(This is just pure evidence.)
Famous; This was the one that really surprised me. Like I said, I am striving to be an actress, and really get out there, so hopefully one day I will become famous.
And if I do, MAJOR shoutout to Ms.Pollock, our homeroom and drama teacher! Ha.
***
Some other interesting things I found out is apparently my name Clarissa is used in the languages English, Italian, and Portuguese. Portuguese!
The latinate word for Clarissa is Clarice, which originated from Clara.
My middle name Joy is English, from the word joy.
In Norman French it's pronounced joie, and in Latin it's gaudia. Which is wired because it sounds like Guatemala!
And sadly, I couldn't find anything for my last name, Garcia. Boo-hoo.
I think my name suits me well because I just like my name. (Better than Charity!)
I like the fact that when I write my full name 'Clarissa Garcia,' it rhymes because of the a's!
If I could give myself a new name, it would be Mia. I really like that name, because I just finished reading this really good book called If I Stay, by Gayle Foreman, and the main character was named Mia. There's something about that name that I absolutely love.
Maybe I'll name my child that... even if it was a boy. Ha, jokes!
***
A few weeks ago, Mrs.Pollock was telling me she used to watch a show called
'Clarissa Explains It All,' when she was younger.
I was really curious about it, so I searched it on youtube, and turns out the actress who plays 'Clarissa,' is the same girl who plays Sabrina, in 'Sabrina the Teenage Witch.'
(Melissa Joan Hart).
So here's a clip of the old show; Clarissa Explains it All.
Sorry I couldnt embed it on my blog, youtube wouldn't let me!
Anyway, I think the name Clarissa really suits the character because she's so quirky, and bright.
And I think it just suits the character! She's so funny, and outgoing.
This is one of the hardest blog post Mrs.Pollock ever had us assigned. But it was alot of fun getting to know more about MY name.
Hope you had fun reading this, as I did typing this.
Until next blog post,

Island Man (A Poem by Grace Nichols)
Hey guys, so Mrs.P has us doing another assignment!
We got to hear a new poem during drama class, called Island Man, and now she has us doing a small reflective of where we would want to be if we woke up.
If I was to wake up, I think I would like to be on the beach of Hawaii, drinking pina coladas out of a coconut! Ha!
Kind of similar to the man who is used to waking up on an island, and now finds himself in the busy city of London. But who wouldn't want to wake up on a beautiful island?
The sparkling blue water, hitting the shore, white, hot sand tickling your feet. Paradise.
Until that happens, check out the poem;

Island Man (for a Caribbean island man in London who still wakes up to the sound of the sea)
by Grace Nichols
.
Morning
and island man wakes up
to the sound of blue surf
in his head
the steady breaking and wombing
wild seabirds
and fishermen pushing out to sea
the sun surfacing defiantly
from the east
of his small emerald island
He always comes back
groggily groggily
comes back to sands
of a grey metallic soar
to a surge of wheels
to dull North Circular roar
muffling muffling
his crumpled pillow waves
island man heaves himself;
anotherLondon day
Okay, that's it for blogging today!
I'm too busy listening to my favorite song Animal - Neon Trees.

3-2-1 Empathy Presentation Reflection.
Good Evening Bloggers!
It's almost Friday, and I can't hardly wait for the long Thanksgiving weekend!
I'm planning to go to Toronto, but for now, Ms.P has us doing a new blog post about our 'Student of the Month' empathy presentation infront of the whole school yesterday.
***
3. Things that I think would have helped to improve our presentation.
> I think if I was to face the audience more often it would improve the presentation, because Ms.Pollock said
it's like I was having a conversation with the audience. But to be honest, I found it awkward to face the
audience, so I tried making not as much contact. But I think more would be better if I was more comfterable.
>Practice makes perfect, that's what they all say. And it's true! We put together our presentation in two days,
which came together pretty good. But since we had hectic schedules, we couldnt practice as much. Imagine
if we practiced for more than two days! It would be PERFECTION! So I think practice would help with alot of
improvment.
>Layout and Position. We had a HUGE stage to share with twenty-eight students, and i could see that the
centre of the stage was kind of unuseful. Some skits were alittle off-to-the-side, which is probably hard for the audience to see.
2. Things that went really well.
>You have to give us props, we put on a presentaion in two days! Something that I think went really well was our improv. We made no scripts, no lines, nothing! We just went with the flow. For example, our concept was for me to be a 'dream jumper', (just like the one in Sponge Bob!) And Ms.P gave me some ideas on what to say, and I just said what came to my mind. Voila, improv!
>Communication. I think that was something I'm really proud of our presentation. A few people in our class didn't come to presentation day, so we had to talk it out. Who did what, said what, what we're going to do.
For example, Melissa sadly couldn't make it yesterday, so Sara volenteered to narrate.
1. Piece of advice I have for students who will be preforming in the future.
>The piece of advice I have for preforming in the future is, project your voice! You want your audience to hear you. Sound confident, and flash a smile or two. You want your audience to be engadged of what you're saying. If you sound mono-toned, they'll think your boring and won't be interested.
So that's it for today.
To be honest, I'm tired of typing!

Empathy
Hello Bloggers!
So Ms.P told us to do a post about empathy, and I was more than thrilled to share some of my ideas, and writing (in my free write book), what empathy is to me.
I wrote this poem during class in my free write book about empathy in somebody's negative point of view, because not everyone is brave enough to speak what they're thinking without thinking twice about what other people has to say. (Like criticism, negitave comments, ect.)
So here it is;
'Empathy.
Will they understand?
Of what I have to say?
Will they stop and listen?
Or will they just walk away.
Empathy.
Will they get my opinion?
Or is it just a suggestion.
So many questions,
too scared to be spoken.
Empathy.'
Well that's the end of my empathy post.
Tune in for more, I'll be making a tab for 'Book Reviews,' and one for just fun stuff.
Until next time!

Welcome Bloggers!
Hello there, the name is Claire!
I'm happy that you are taking the time to check out my blog.
'Claire's Bubbly Core Blog'
Say that 5 times, it's a tongue twister!
So let me tell you a few things about me;
-People say I'm an optimistic person. They say I smile all the time, and that's how Mrs.Edgerton, (our old vice principle) started calling me 'Smiley.'
-I love the show Glee because I love to sing, (when no one's around) and I think it's a really funny show.
My favorite character is Puck 'cause he's a bad boy, and I like that alot! Ha!
-I absolutely love sports. I prefer volleyball, basketball, badminton, and track & field.
I prefer basketball because I'm in a competitive team called PBA. Which stands for 'Philippines Basketball Association.'
So that's just a little bit about me.
I encourage you to leave a comment or ask a question.
Come back soon for more!
